Welcome to SummaryfAI!
These terms of service (“terms”) govern your access to and use of the SummaryfAI web application (“service”), provided by Michał Kamiński (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Please read these terms carefully. By creating an account or using the service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with these terms, you may not access or use the service.
1. Description of the service
SummaryfAI is a web application that transforms PDF documents into high-quality text and audio summaries using artificial intelligence technologies. For each processed document, the service generates two outputs: a detailed text summary in markdown format and a professional audio summary in MP3 format, narrated to resemble an academic lecture.
The service is designed for users such as professionals preparing for specialization exams, researchers, and students working with academic materials.
2. Account registration and security
- Eligibility: To use the service, you must be at least 18 years old. By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
- Registration process: Creating an account requires providing a valid email address and creating a secure password. You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information. During registration, you must accept these terms and our privacy policy.
- Account security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
3. Use of the service and AI systems (AI act compliance)
- Intended use: The service is an assistive tool and should not be considered a sole source of information. The generated content is for informational and educational purposes only.
- Transparency: We explicitly state that the generated summaries are created by artificial intelligence systems. Due to the probabilistic nature of language models, the generated content may contain inaccuracies, errors, or omissions.
- User verification required: You are obligated to independently verify the accuracy and completeness of the generated content before use, especially in contexts requiring high precision (e.g., medical, legal, or financial decisions).
- Prohibition of high-risk applications: You are strictly prohibited from using the service or its generated content for high-risk applications as defined by the EU AI Act. This includes, but is not limited to, automated decision-making with legal effects, credit scoring, recruitment, or use in critical infrastructure systems.
- User responsibility: You bear full responsibility for how you use the generated content. You release us from any liability for damages resulting from reliance on information contained in the summaries.
4. User rights and responsibilities
- Rights to documents: You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to upload and process the PDF documents within the service. You may not upload material that infringes on the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.
- Document content: You agree not to upload documents that:
- Contain unlawful, offensive, defamatory, or hateful content.
- Contain viruses, malware, or any code that could disrupt the service.
- Contain personally identifiable information (PII) or other sensitive data. You are fully responsible for ensuring documents are anonymized before upload. The service is not designed to process personal data contained within your documents.
- Technical limitations: You agree to adhere to the service’s technical limitations, including uploading only PDF documents with a selectable text layer and a maximum file size of 25 MB. Each user may only have one document being processed at a time.
5. Credit system
- Principle of operation: Access to the document processing feature is managed by a credit system. Processing one document costs one (1) credit.
- Credit allocation: Upon registration, each new user is granted an initial pool of three (3) credits. Additional credits may be granted by the service administrator.
- Credit deduction: A credit is deducted from your balance upon the successful initiation of a document processing task.
- Credit refund: A credit will be automatically refunded to your account if a processing task fails due to a technical error on our side. Credits are not refunded for failures resulting from an improper document format (e.g., a scanned document without a text layer) or if you voluntarily delete a summary.
6. Intellectual property rights
- Your documents and summaries: You retain full ownership rights to the documents you upload. You also own the generated text and audio summaries created from your documents. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license solely for the time necessary to process your document, generate the summaries, and make them available to you through your account.
- Our service: All rights to the service itself, including its software, design, trademarks, logos, and all other components (excluding your documents and generated content), belong to Michał Kamiński and are protected by law.
7. Data privacy and GDPR compliance
- Privacy policy: Your privacy is very important to us. The rules for collecting, processing, and protecting your personal data are described in our Privacy policy, which is an integral part of these terms.
- GDPR compliance: We are committed to processing your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
- Data deletion: In line with the “right to be forgotten,” deleting your account will initiate the permanent deletion of your personal data and all associated summaries from our systems. As a data minimization measure, original PDF documents are deleted from our servers immediately after the processing is complete.
8. Termination
- Termination by you: You may terminate your account at any time through the account settings page. Account deletion is irreversible and will result in the permanent removal of all your data, including generated summaries.
- Termination by us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, particularly the provisions regarding user responsibilities in section 4.
9. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
- “As is” basis: The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor that the generated content will be 100% accurate or complete.
- Limitation of liability: To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Michał Kamiński and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, resulting from (a) your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the service; or (b) any reliance on the content generated by the service.
10. Changes to the terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes via email or through a notification within the service. Your continued use of the service after such changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Poland. Any disputes arising from these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts competent for the registered office of Michał Kamiński.
